King Hermit play Covstock 08 supporting THE MUSIC, for more info go to www.covstock.co.uk
King Hermit put on an all ages gig at Taylor johns house featuring two under 18 bands in support, This is in conjunction with our E.P launch.
All the details can be found on the above flyer, there will also be a write up about this Event in Fridays Coventry Evening Telegraph, The Allies are a band formed from charity money raised by Covstock 4 (Dale from King Hermit is an organiser) donated to Coventry Young Carers fund.
A little more infomation on The Allies and Young Carers:
The Allies were born from an idea from Young Carers’ Support and Development Worker Mark Graham and Local music promoter and Covstock Festival organisers. Covstock is an annual music festival which raises money for local charities, one of which was the Coventry Carers’ Centre Young Carers’ Project. This year they raised £1000 to enable young carers in Coventry to have musical experiences. Coventry Education Authority also give the project a grant of £3500 to ensure that it was a successful learning experience for those involved.
Mark and the team decided that forming a band with young carers, who wouldn’t have had the opportunity to do it without our support, would be the way forward. They felt that it would be a creative way for the young carers involved to express their emotions and feelings positively. It would also give the young people involved the chance to learn a new skill whether it be to learn an instrument, songwriting, sound engineering promotional skills and basically all of the stuff that comes with being a successful band.
